Pax et Lux

As I sit in my living room, listening to President Obama deliver the eulogy for one of the the new martyrs, the Charleston 9 of blessed memory--and may their memory be eternal--I can only say this:

May these be--please, O Lord!--the last nine victims 

of an old and horrifying war.

I truly never believed I would live to see this day. Yet, in the blink of an eye, it seems, history is made. Of course, it wasn't in the blink of an eye. People have suffered and fought for decades for this moment. I am proud to be their spiritual descendant, and to have received from their hands the prize for which they struggled.
